Naomi Shihab Nye writes poems for young women, as well as adults.  This one is so cute, simple and to the point.  I love it, and it was short enough to have fun composing a short rhythmic choral piece based on the words.

you take it off

of course you take it off

it doesn’t worry you

it isn’t your shoe.
