I love Chœur Maha and I wrote a piece of music for them based on a poem by Martha Postlethwaite which I also love.  The poem is called Clearing and goes like this:

Do not try to save
the whole world
or do anything grandiose.
Instead, create
a clearing
in the dense forest
of your life
and wait there
until the song
that is your life
falls into your own cupped hands
and you recognize and greet it.
Only then will you know
how to give yourself
to this world
so worth of rescue.

And here is the music for a 4 part women’s chorus.

first, the pdf

Clearing, 4 voices and violin

next, the audio file that I made with my voice only.  It is acceptable to get an idea of the piece, except for the ending—it is very difficult to record a whole choir worth of long tones–the end sound is weak.

so here is another chance to hear the end, with violin on long tones.

Please read this post from a few years ago which explains more about why I love this poem so muchhttps://allieweigh.com/2010/09/10/blips-and-blobs/
